Does Travelex have travel insurance that covers cancellation for any reason?

We have a cancel for any reason upgrade*, which you can include in your policy if you buy our Ultimate plan.

This upgrade can allow you to cancel your booked vacation without losing everything you paid, just in case something — anything — comes up. Whether your babysitter backed out of watching the kids before your couple’s trip or it’s supposed to be rainy all week on your Caribbean getaway, you never know when you may need to call off your trip.

With our cancel for any reason upgrade, you can feel confident knowing you have the freedom to cancel your trip at least two days or more prior to departure date and get some money back — no matter what your reasoning is for cancellation.

What does Travelex’s any reason cancellation travel insurance include?

If you choose our Ultimate plan and add our cancel for any reason upgrade to your policy, you’ll be eligible to cancel your trip for — you guessed it — any reason. (Remember: this coverage is not available in any of our other base plans; the upgrade can only be added to our top plan, Ultimate.)

If you include this upgrade in your policy, we can reimburse you 75% of your prepaid, nonrefundable insured trip costs (up to $7,500) if you need to cancel your trip. However, you’re only eligible for this coverage if you cancel at least two days before your scheduled departure date.

Important: For our any reason cancellation travel insurance to apply, you need to:

• Insure all your nonrefundable trip expenses in your plan.
• Have a trip cost equal to or less than $10,000.
• Purchase the upgrade at least 31 days before your departure date.
• Purchase the cancel for any reason upgrade with the Ultimate plan within 21 days of your initial payment for your trip. 
• Insure subsequent arrangements within 14 days of booking.

Can I really cancel for any reason?

Yes. As long as you bought our Ultimate plan, purchased the upgrade for your policy, and meet all the requirements above, you can cancel your trip for any reason.

So, whether your parents want to visit you at home during your scheduled trip or you simply no longer want to take your vacation, you can cancel and are eligible for 75% of your trip cost. Just be sure you remember to cancel your trip more than two days in advance of your scheduled departure date to be eligible to receive reimbursement.

Who do I contact if I want to cancel my trip and use my any reason cancellation travel insurance?

We hope you’ll never have to cancel your well-earned vacation, but if you do, we can help.

If you paid for our cancel for any reason upgrade and want to cancel your trip, you’ll need to call our Travelex Claims team and the travel suppliers you originally booked your travel with, no less than two days prior to your scheduled departure. For example, if you cancel your trip and won’t make your flight, you must alert the airline to officially cancel your booking more than two days before your flight’s scheduled departure date.

Then, head to our online claims portal and file a claim for your cancellation using your confirmation number that includes our cancel for any reason upgrade. This way, we can check if you’re eligible for reimbursement of your prepaid, nonrefundable, and unused travel costs.

Tip: Make sure you gather all your payment receipts and proof of giving two or more days’ notice to include with your claim.
