Before you leave for your vacation in Thailand, you may want to see if the U.S. Department of State posted any travel alerts for Thailand on its travel advisories website.

Looking for motorcycle travel insurance? It may be a popular way to get around in Thailand, but we don’t offer motorcycle or moped travel insurance. Our rental car damage upgrade only applies to cars, so if you’re riding a motorcycle or moped as the driver or passenger (including taxis), you won’t be eligible for coverage for any incidents that occur.

But before you bungee jump or zip-line through the jungle, it’s smart to check that your travel insurance policy provides coverage for the adventure activities you intend to try in Thailand.

Your planned adventure activities may already be eligible for coverage under our base plans, such as scuba diving up to a depth of 75 feet, kayaking, river rafting, snorkeling, horseback and elephant riding, and hiking.

However, if you have other sports in mind that aren’t included in the base plans — like skydiving, zip-lining, and free diving — our adventure activities upgrade may be a great addition to your policy. The reality of vacation planning is you can't always predict what may happen. If you do have to call off your trip, our Ultimate, Advantage, and Essential plans offer trip cancellation coverage for eligible reasons.

Want more cancellation flexibility? You can include our optional cancel for any reason upgrade* with our Ultimate plan, which gives you the freedom to cancel your trip for any reason up to two days before your planned departure. We can refund you 75% of your insured trip expenses ($7,500 maximum), so you don’t have to bear the full financial burden.

To qualify for reimbursement with our any reason cancellation travel insurance, it's essential that you insure all nonrefundable vacation expenses (up to a limit of $10,000) with your policy at the point of purchase. You also need to insure any additional travel arrangements within 14 days of booking them. You must buy the upgrade with our Ultimate plan within 21 days of your initial trip payment and 31 days or more before your departure date.

Wondering what to enter as the destination when you get a travel insurance quote? Select the destination you’ll be in for most of your trip. For instance, if you plan to visit Thailand for seven days and Cambodia for three days, you should list Thailand as your destination.

Important: We won’t provide coverage while you’re in any of our blocked destinations.

You may feel unsettled by the thought that your pre-existing medical condition could present challenges during your Thailand trip.
