Our adventure activities upgrade
This upgrade can cover extreme sports and adventure activities that aren’t included in our base plans. If you get this upgrade, you’ll have coverage for these additional activities:
- Mountain climbing
- Bungee jumping
- Snow skiing
- Skydiving
- Parachuting
- Free falling
- Cliff diving
- B.A.S.E. or base jumping
- Hang gliding
- Parasailing
- Travel on any air supported device other than on a regularly scheduled airline or air charter company
- Mountaineering
- Free climbing
- Participating in underwater activities like scuba diving if the water depth is more than 75 feet
Plus, when you buy our adventure activities upgrade, you also get security evacuation and search and rescue coverage.
Security evacuation coverage
On an adventure vacation more than 100 miles from home? If you find yourself in an eligible situation that could cause you serious harm or death, we can help. We can pay up to $100,000 for your transportation to get you to the nearest safe place. This coverage can also help cover certain related costs along the way, like meals and a hotel stay.
Important: This coverage only kicks in if you call our emergency assistance provider first and their experts authorize and arrange your evacuation. For more information, check the policy or reach out to our customer service team and ask about our security evacuation coverage.
Search and rescue coverage
It’ll likely never happen, but if you or the person you’re traveling with gets lost or goes missing on your adventure vacation, we can help. The benefit can cover the costs of one organized search and rescue by the appropriate authorities for no more than six days.
Important: There must be a formal report with sufficient details made for the missing traveler to the agency that can activate a search and rescue. Remember to save all receipts showing the costs of the search and rescue mission.

Can I get coverage with Travelex for my sports equipment?
If you love adventure vacations, it’s likely you might be traveling with some sporting gear. Whether you’re taking a surfboard to South Africa or your skis to Switzerland, we can help. Our base plans can cover items up to the per item limit for your plan — but our baggage upgrade increases the per item limit to $1,500.
If you choose our Essential, Advantage, Ultimate, or Travel Med Go plan, you can add our baggage upgrade to your policy to increase coverage for your belongings — and add coverage for your sporting equipment. These are the same plans that are eligible for our adventure activities upgrade, so you can add both when you’re getting a quote to help customize your protection for your travel needs.
Important: With our sporting equipment rental coverage, we could pay you back for the cost to rent equipment if yours is lost, stolen, or damaged while traveling. Remember to save your receipts and written proof of your equipment issue, because we’ll need them when you submit your claim.
What if your sporting equipment is on track, but delayed for eight hours or more? We can reimburse your expenses to rent equipment in this situation, too. You’ll need to send us your receipts and written proof of the delay when you file a claim.
